corner hammock posts will be shaded by the Waterhousea 'Sweepers'

This project in North Bondi was a complete blank canvas, so we set about designing a family friendly garden with a pool.

We were asked to create the design for this project in the early stages of construction of the property so we could work with the clients and their building team to design the pool, spa and bbq areas as well as the gardens.

The clients chose our option whereby we design for the space, plants, hard and soft elements and materials and they purchase and complete themselves. Less mature plants were chosen by the clients so they could enjoy watching them grow.

Screening from neighbours and shade were an important part of the brief and the selected plants and trees of Waterhousea Floribunda ‘Sweeper’, Bambusa textilis var. gracillias (slender weavers bamboo), Magnolia denudata, and Thysanoleana maxima (tiger grass) will address this upon maturity.

A Red Cedar deck to match the exterior features of the house was included and for the pool area large, light travertine pavers were used for a contemporary look and feel.
