Andy and Janine wanted a front garden that would compliment and enhance their home in North Sydney, cope with its west facing aspect, and provide color and interest – and no buxus! Here’s a few shots after we finished planting – we’ll go back soon and get more as the garden matures.
We used a mix of native and complimentary exotic plants that will create the feel of a cottage garden but without the associated high maintenance. Flowering plants are a mix of yellows, orange, reds, blues and pinks, and foliage a range of greens, silver and purples, with some seasonal, autumn color provided by a crepe myrtle. A new stone path intersects each garden bed with lawns laid in curved steel to further soften the rectilinear architecture of their home.
